Floorplan

Draw, trace or describe a home, furnish it, then walk through it in 3D. All in the browser.

What it is

Floorplan draws to-scale floor plans and turns them into a 3D model you can walk around. Draw it by hand, upload an estate agent's floorplan and have Claude redraw it to scale, or just describe what you want and let Claude build it with its tools. No account and no server for your plans: they stay in your browser.

Key features

  • Trace a floorplan with AI

Claude reads the walls, printed measurements, doors, windows, stairs and floors from a picture. Every wall is marked measured, derived or estimated, so guesses are never hidden.

  • Edit by chatting

Ask for a two-bed flat or sage-green bedroom walls, attach a photo of furniture to build or a room to match. In 3D, the chat knows which room you are looking at.

  • Plan, 3D and walk

Click anywhere to walk there, with pathfinding around furniture and doors that open as you pass. First or third person, keyboard or trackpad.

  • Homes with several floors

Floors side by side like a sales brochure, with straight, L-shaped or winder stairs, and checks for stairs that are too steep or lead nowhere.

  • Furnish and paint

A furniture library with rendered thumbnails, custom objects built by chat, wall paint, floor finishes, gardens and patios.

  • Export and share

PNG, SVG, PDF to scale, CSV schedules, and share links that carry the whole plan inside the URL itself.

In action

The welcome screen offers four ways to start: draw, trace a picture, describe it, or open a sample.

Walk mode in third person, with a door swinging open on the route shown on the minimap.

Under the hood

The parts that aren't obvious

  1. The AI reads, code builds

The model only reports what is printed on the plan, and is told never to adjust a measurement to make a room fit. Code then checks each room closes, fills in unlabelled walls and snaps shared corners together.

  2. An agent loop in the browser

Up to 30 tool steps per turn, with edits applied as each streamed tool call completes, so the plan changes live. A whole turn is one undo step and rolls back if it fails.

  3. Share links without a server

Plans are packed, compressed and stored in the URL fragment, which browsers never send to a server. The format is versioned so old links keep working.

  4. A hand-built 3D engine

Built on three.js, it renders only when something moves, merges furniture into a few meshes and adapts resolution on slow machines. That took a sample home from 26 seconds to under 2 to appear.

  5. Locked down

A Content Security Policy only lets the page talk to the Claude API, and the key is encrypted with AES-GCM using a passphrase-derived key (600,000 rounds).
